Yvonne Wall Howard of Elk City, Oklahoma passed away October 30th 2019 in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Yvonne was born and raised in Kiowa County to Emmett and Ruth Ellis on September 16, 1931. She attended school at Big Elk, later transferring to Sentinel School. She met Jake Wall in Sentinel and they married October 16, 1948. Together they raised two children, Darlene and Tommy. Jake passed away after 27 years of marriage. Yvonne remained in Sentinel working at several physician clinics and the Washita County Court House before starting her career in the United States Postal Service. She was appointed Post Master of Canute, Oklahoma in 1987. Yvonne met Bob Howard while living in Canute and they married January 16, 1988. They made their home in Canute until moving to Elk City, Oklahoma in 2014. Bob passed away after 28 years of marriage.
Yvonne was a talented seamstress, creating beautiful quilts. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, and square dancing with Bob. She was active in the Lion's Club, the Canute Senior Citizens Club, the Washita County Election Board, and volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile.
Yvonne was a strong, resilient woman living a long life - leaving incredible memories and a lasting legacy for all who knew and loved her.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and ten siblings.
Yvonne is survived by her children Darlene Lesley and husband Tommy of Sentinel, Oklahoma and Tommy Wall and wife Kim of Foss, Oklahoma, stepchildren Don Howard and wife Kathy of Mesa, Arizona and Sandy Moore and husband Gerry of Uvalde, Texas, and sister Peggy Morgan and husband Russell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Survivors also include six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who will cherish memories of Grandma Yvonne.
