Winifred Olene Kern passed away May 21, 2015 at the age of 94, at Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma. She was born December 27, 1920, in Sayre, Oklahoma to Joe and Lillie McCarson. She moved to Mountain View at a young age and graduated from Mountain View High School in 1939. In June of 1942, she boarded a train in Clinton, Oklahoma where she traveled alone to Tampa, Florida to join her high school sweetheart in marriage, Harry Kern Jr. on June 4th, while Harry was serving in the military.
During Harry's thirty years of military service around the world Winifred remained on the home front raising their children. They later retired to Mountain View, Oklahoma.
She is survived by Joann Sapaugh, Bandera, Texas, Pat Parchman and husband James, Lake Conroe, Texas, Debbie Clark, Clinton, Oklahoma, Bill Kern and wife Debbie, Cordell, Oklahoma, daughters-in-laws DeeDee Kern and Glenda Kern. Twelve grandchildren Rod Kelley, Tommy & Steven Kern, Darrell & Jason Parchman, Jeanine Messana, Donnie & Byron Clark, Desirae Stewart, Adrienne Reed & Andrew Kern. Nine great grandchildren.
Winifred is preceded in death by husband Harry Kern, two sons Max and Jimmy Kern.
Service to be held at 2:00 p.m. May 25, 2015 at Corn Mennonite Brethren Church in Corn, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Mountain View, Oklahoma.
