Rev. Chip Perkins, 60, of Carnegie, Oklahoma, was called to his heavenly home on December 14th, 2022, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born to William Garrett and Elizabeth Ann (Qualkinbush) Perkins on June 23, 1962, in Salem, Indiana. He graduated with the class of 1980 from Springs Valley High School. After high school, Chip attended college at God's Bible School at Cincinnati, OH. While there, he met the love of his life, Tammy Sue Hallam. They were married in Fort Madison, Iowa on September 5, 1981, and had 5 children; Charlotte, Randy, Nathan, Jeremiah and Samuel. After serving churches in Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, and Kansas, they moved to Bethany, OK, and served Jernigan Memorial Church of the Nazarene for 6 years. Chip and Tammy then made their final home in Carnegie, Oklahoma where they would spend the next 20 years. While there, he served as pastor of The Church of the Nazarene in Carnegie, and loved to serve the entire community. Chip also served as Chaplain of Corn nursing home, as well as making regular visits to the hospital and nursing home in Carnegie. He joined the Rotary club, where Chip would eventually receive citizen of the year. He served on numerous boards and committees for the Church of the Nazarene's Southwest Oklahoma district. Chip enjoyed serving the Lord, being with family, and loving people. You couldn't meet Chip without knowing two things, he loved people unconditionally and never met a stranger. Chip was happiest when he was in the pulpit sharing the good news of Jesus to the lost, encouraging the hearts of saints, and holding revivals for numerous churches. One of his greatest joys was his family, and he faithfully prayed for his children, parents, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews by name every day.
Sadly, in 2008, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor that ultimately shortened his years of pastoral ministry. Even though he retired from full time service in 2016, Chip never lost the desire to serve Jesus. The struggles with his health never dimmed his wanting to preach or to visit the community he loved. Wherever he went, people knew he was blessed.
Surrounded by his family, Chip slipped out of this earthly body and into the arms of the Savior he loved and faithfully served. Now, in the presence of the Lord, we know he is TRULY blessed!
He is preceded in death by his father, William Perkins, Nephews, Spencer Brook Hoffman, and Devin Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Perkins, of the home.
