William "Wonka" Bert 61 of Anadarko passed away on June 26, 2016.
He was born April 7, 1955 to George Edward and Violet Tonahcot Bert in Lawton, Oklahoma.
"Wonka" lived in El Reno most of his life until he graduated. He lived at Concho during his childhood days where extended family ties were established with the Doyebi family. His brotherly ties with J.D., Bruce, and Frankie were close until their passing. There his journey began.
"Wonka" then met Kathy Curley whom he married and from this union came Devin and Anthony. He later remarried the love of his life, Nannette Faye Thomas and then came Chozin and his precious son, Praze. Wonka and Nannette helped care for and raise two special people: Kyle and Whitley whom they loved as their own. Too numerous to mention there were many, many other young folks that they took in as well. Wonka shared his home and all dwellings to try to counsel them through life. After the loss of his wife, Nannette, he moved to Anadarko to be closer to his own family (sons, mother, brothers, and sister). Along came his great-grand daughter "little Sister" Jaedah Lanae; whom he dearly loved and cherished.
Wonka always talked about his Concho days and all the friends he had. These fond memories were shared with Chozin. He actually made a recent trip to El Reno before his departure, while there is visited his favorite eating place "Johnnie's Grill, where he "knocked out" their "famous coneys". He also showed his son, Praze, where he attended high school. His Jr. High and High School track records still remain unbroken. Maybe this is where his grand daughter, Aubrey, obtained her talent and skills in track.
Wonka has traveled many miles during his lifetime and always made friends which lasted a lifetime.
His calling to help the young people will be greatly missed as many came to him just to talk about life's mysteries and ask him to pray with them.
His kind heart, gentle soft spoken words will be greatly missed, but the love for his sons, grandchildren, little sister, and ALL of his family will continue on forever.
So, now, "Wonk" get on your Harley, hit the road, and open it up, your journey has just now begun...
