Wilbur A Hawkins

April 22, 1924 — June 9, 2017

Wilbur Adrian Hawkins, 93, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2017. He was the last of 10 born on April 22nd, 1924 to William Gibbons and Neoma (Colwell) Hawkins in Mountain View, Oklahoma. Wilbur grew up and attended school at Spring Creek Country School until his 8th grade year. He then went to Mountain View graduating in 1942. It was here he met the love of his life Mildred Franklin. He went to California after graduation because he had seen all the farm life he wanted, he lived with his brother-in-law & sister, Bill & Gladys Horne and their two children, Billy Duane and Noma Lea. Wilbur came home when WWII broke out & enlisted in the Navy. His tour of duty was in the European Theater. After the war he came home and married Mildred on June 26, 1945. To this union was born one child, Bob. He worked for PSO as a meter reader and a lineman in Clinton, OK. In January of 1948 they moved to Mountain View, California as many okies did to make their fortune. They lived there until Wilbur was discouraged working for PSO. They then decided to move back to Mountain View, Ok and start farming, he was a very good steward of the land by making farms he farmed 100% better than they were before he started.


Wilbur is preceded in death by: his parents, wife Mildred, four brothers; Henry, Barney, Ralph and Royce, four sisters; Tessie, Jessie, Gladys, Alverna and Lucille.

Son; Bob Hawkins and wife LuAnn of Mountain View, Oklahoma
Grandson; Jim Bob Hawkins and wife Julie
Granddaughter; Carla
Great grandson; Tanner
Great granddaughters; Carli and Parker
Numerous Nieces and Nephews


Graveside Service: 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 12, 2017
