Wennell Tillis

July 28, 1932 — June 3, 2022

Mrs. Wennell Tillis

"The Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want..."
Psalms 23:1

It is said that there are words in the English vocabulary that are more solemn than all of the others; They are Life, Death, and Eternity. Life is more solemn than death; to live is more serious than to die. The object of Christ's death was Life. Death is a joyful messenger of peace whose kind hand opens, for the weary pilgrim, the gate of immortality and lets the oppressed go free.
A busy life came to a close for Mrs. Wennell Tillis on Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Shannon Springs Nursing Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She was born July 28, 1932, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the oldest of five children born to Willie Lee Norwood and Goldie Nuckols Norwood. Wennell attended Lincoln School and was on the girls' basketball team. She grew up attending the Greater First Baptist Church in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
In 1949, she met Andrew Tillis and became his wife on February 11, 1950.
Mrs. Tillis was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Tillis; parents, Willie and Goldie Norwood; two sons, Gary Tillis and Vince Tillis; one daughter, Brigitte Tillis; three sisters, Geraldine Dixon, Marlene Foster and Algerine Starks; one brother, Willie Lloyd Norwood; two grandchildren, Keenan Perry, Rosalind Geionety and two great grandchildren, Levon McClellan IV and Cherish Tillis.
She leaves to morn: two daughters, Rosalind Perry (William) of Charleston, South Carolina, Trina Byrd of Anadarko; four sons, Keith Tillis and Damean (Kay'Lee) Tillis of Anadarko, Reginald Tillis of Killeen, Texas and Virgil Tillis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 28 Grandchildren, 64 Great-Grandchildren, 21 Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalms 23:6
