Wayne Dale Tate, 71, entered eternal rest and peace on November 16, 2014 in beautiful, scenic Montana, the Big Sky country that captured his heart many decades earlier. He put up a valiant effort battling many physical challenges over the last several years.
He was born on June 18, 1943 in Hobart, OK to Carl and Annie Tate. Wayne grew up in Mountain View, OK with his brothers Ronald, Eugene and Barton Tate and his sister Colleen Davis. He graduated from Mountain View High School in 1961. After high school, he continued his education at an automotive trade school in Okmulgee, OK.
He was married to Linda Suttle on August 21, 1962 in Sentinel, Oklahoma, and they shared over 50 years together. There were no limits to the things he wanted to do, and he was fearless in going after them. As a young adult, he moved his family to Montana and started an adventure of running a large ranch at Nyack Flats, with the picturesque Rocky Mountains as a backdrop. This was where he taught his children to hunt, fish and ride horses. Later, he owned and operated a state-of-the-art ostrich ranch located at the foothills of the Wichita Mountains in SW Oklahoma. He was also skilled in construction and owned his own business in Lawton, OK. He used his carpentry skills to fulfill a dream of building his family a custom log home near Essex, MT. It was a family project for years to come, but many lessons were taught and learned and great memories were made. This is where he wanted to live out his final days, which he did.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Annie Tate, his son Vincent Tate, grandson Dillen Hall and his very beloved cocker spaniel Sweet Pea.
Wayne is survived by his spouse Linda Tate of Essex, MT; his sons Kenneth Tate and Darla Kidder (Aaron Covad, Trevor and Trinity) of Missoula, MT, Vincent Tate's children (Nicholas, Shelby and Madison Tate, Derek Earls and his two children Presley and Dillen) and Curtis and Lisa Tate (Shelbi and Taylor Lewark) of Lawton, OK; his daughters Sheila Bates (Amber and Arika) of Anchorage, AK, Darla Tate of Essex, MT, Tina Henderson (Brandon and Brianna) of Kansas City, MO, brothers, sister, many nephews, nieces and friends. He will greatly miss another love of his life, his dog Whisky.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, 306 West 11th Street, Hobart, OK, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014. Burial will follow at Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, OK under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart.
