Wayne Lester Chism
November 27, 1944 — March 28, 2017
Wayne was born November 27, 1944, to Lester and Helen (Logan) Chism in Sentinel, Oklahoma. Loving husband, father, and proud papa, he died peacefully on March 28, 2017, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November of 2016.
Wayne grew up and attended school in Sentinel. He graduated in 1963. After high school, he attended college in Weatherford where he met the love of his life, LaJuanna Logue.
Wayne and LaJuanna were married on April 18, 1965. They made their home east of Sentinel where they farmed for over 33 years. In 1998, they moved to Cache, Oklahoma. This move made them closer to LaJuanna's parents so they could help take care of them. He was a devoted worker for Comanche County District 3; more than that he was a mentor to so many that he worked with during the past 18 years.
A beloved husband; a Godly man. He was a member of the First Baptist church in Sentinel. Family was close to his heart. Wayne was the counselor, coach, disciplinarian and a first class teacher to all of the kids and grandkids. He demanded a lot, but he gave so much more. He always put others first.
Wayne was a skilled craftsmen, carpenter, welder, custom harvester, utilizing his hands to construct, build, repair most anything. Rarely did he have to hire his work done.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, LaJuanna; daughter, Stacey Chism of Cache; son, Toby Chism and wife, Keri, of Piedmont. Six grandchildren, Logan Chism of Oklahoma City; Jordan (Chism) Ferris and husband, Palmer; Hunter, Steele, Harlie and Stone Chism of Piedmont. One great-grandson, Braxton Chism of Frederick. Nephew, Mark Klinger of Dallas, TX, and niece, Kim Klinger Turnham of Perkins.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Clydene (Chism) Klinger.
