Wayne Askew

September 30, 1929 — July 15, 2016

Wayne E. Askew, 86, of Mountain View, Oklahoma passed away July 15th, 2016. He was born September 30th, 1929 to Roy Hunter and Maude (Bricker) Askew in Wimberly, Texas. Wayne was raised in Saddle Mountain area and belonged to the Round-Up Club. His proudest accomplishment other than his five children and all his grandchildren was his 22 years, 6 months and 14 days in the United States Air Force. He retired as a SMSGT. He served as Mayor of Mountain View for numerous years, which included the Centennial Celebration. He was a Mason, served on the Mountain View and Hobart Historical Museum boards. He was an avid Farm Bureau and American Legion member.
After retiring he served, along with his beloved wife of 62 years, in his community as what you might call a "Jack of All Trade". He did many years of Heating/Air Conditioning, Appliance Repair, and Electrical work.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends

He is survived by five children;
Vickey Beck and husband Michael of Gahanna, Ohio,
Curtis Askew and wife Valeria of LaPorte, Indiana,
Merlin Askew and life partner Marti Walker of Choctaw, Oklahoma,
Shirley Quoetone and husband Red of Mountain View, Oklahoma,
Tracy Askew of Mountain View, Oklahoma,
seven grandchildren;
Marissa, Brandon, Aaron, Clarence, Horace, Jimmy and Suni.
twelve great-grandchildren;
sisters;
Glenny Moore and husband Benny, Neosho, Missouri
Gayle Prentice and husband Eddie of Mountain View, Oklahoma.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; Roy and Maude Askew, wife; Geraldine Askew, sister; Charlotte Madden and grandson John.
