Virginia Rose Martin went on to be with the Lord on August 30, 2017. She was born on March 1, 1923, in Rexford, Kansas, to Barmon Bilbro (BB) and Miriam Rose (Frey) McBroom. She moved to Kiowa County in 1932. She married Floyd Francis Martin (Abe) on June 17, 1941, in Hollis, Oklahoma. During World War II, Virginia worked at Monarch Dry Cleaners in Colorado Springs, Colorado, while her husband went to War. And worked for Lamb's cleaners for 20 years here in Hobart. She altered and repaired clothing for many people in Hobart and the surrounding areas. Virginia loved to sew, iron, garden, crochet, and knit, plus pick lots of pecans, shell them, and then sell them to friends and neighbors. She was the leader of TOPS Club #282 for 15 years, Secretary Treasurer for AARP, a member of the Unity Home Demonstration Club for 15 years, and taught Sunday School for 63 years at the First Baptist Church in Hobart, OK. She never met a stranger, as she would strike up a conversation with anyone. She really loved people, and doing things for them. She is not gone, she has just gone on ahead. Mom always said, "You do the best with what you got and what will be, will be." And we know she is now rejoicing with her Lord and Savior.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd Martin, three half brothers, and one half sister.
She is survived by:
Son, Robert Floyd Martin of Wills Point, Texas,
Daughter, Janet Corrine (Martin) Smith of Kanab, Utah,
