Former Hobart resident Virgil Glenn Wilson [1926-2014] died after battling cancer.
After high school, Glenn joined the U.S. Army and served in Philippines. He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He spent the remainder of his career in the U.S. Air Force, mostly serving in the Strategic Air Command.
After retirement he lived in Hobart. Later, he moved to Chandler, Ariz., where he lived until he died on Sept. 2, 2014.
Survivors include Kathy Schlachtenhaufen and her husband Mark, of Edmond, Robert Wilson and his wife Sharon, of Mangum, Jerry Wilson and his partner Paula Edgers, of Boydsville, David Wilson and his wife Lisa, of Erick, and several grandchildren including Jerry Glenn, who had an especially close relationship with his grandfather, his wife Amy and their daughter Paige Marie.
He was preceded in death by his second wife Janey, his parents H.O. and Johanna "Jo" (Brady) Wilson, his daughter Alois, who lived in Hobart, his brother Royce Wilson, who lived in Edmond and his brother Ray Wilson, of Manchester, Mo. A memorial service including military honors will begin at 2 p.m. Oct.4 at Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Hobart at 306 W. 11th St.
