Viola Ellen Zumwalt, 64, of Anadarko, Oklahoma passed away, Surrounded by her family, on August 12, 2020. She was diagnosed with stage 3-c breast cancer in 2014. " I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith". She was born on January 2, 1956 in De Queens, Arkansas to Walter (Ray) and Amanda (Watson) Noah. She was a member of The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Viola attended Broken Bow High School where she displayed her leadership ability by participating in many clubs & organizations: 4-H club President, Spanish Club Vice- President, Drama Club, Student Council and The National Honor Society. She was a recipient of a George Washington medal from the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge. She was also named the �Kiamichi Owa-Chito' 1973 (Choctaw) Princess. In addition to her many high school honors, she was chosen to travel to Washington D.C with 4-H and toured Europe in the summer of 1974.
She went on to attend The University of Tulsa, majoring in Secondary Education. She graduated from Southeastern State University in 1978 with her bachelors degree and earned her Masters degree from Southwestern State University 1981.
Viola moved to the Anadarko area in 1980 to work for Riverside Indian School as an English Teacher. She lead the National Honor Society for many years. She met and had many special friends (co-workers) while working for RIS. She retired in May 2020 with 40 years of Federal service under the Bureau of Indian Affairs. (BIE)
Ms. Noah married Mervyn Paul Zumwalt from Anadarko on July 5, 1983 at Lukokia Church in Wright City, OK. On December 20, 1986 they welcomed a daughter; E'Vonne Rae Zumwalt.
She is survived by her husband, her daughter, E'Vonne Rae Zumwalt. and a special stepdaughter Mervala Zumwalt and two very special grandchildren, Paris Jade Burdex and Rome Noah Churchill. A brother, Leonard Noah and his wife, Mary; Her nieces, Carmelita Sanchez, Alejondrina Celeste Sanchez, Laytoya Salinas, Atalya Noah and nephews, Dyani Sanchez, Kyndall Shane Noah, Chadwick Noah, and Landon Noah.
She is preceded in death by: Eleonora Que Noah, sister; Charlotte Salinas, sister.
