Vernon Dale Toyekoyah, whom everyone knew as "Howie" was born on May 12, 1956 at the Kiowa Indian Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma and was called home on September 20, 2017 with his family by his side.

Howie attended Carnegie Public Schools and Riverside Indian School. He made his living as a carpenter/maintenance man. Howie's life long passion was training and racing quarter and thoroughbred racehorses. He was an avid OU and Dallas Cowboy football and Oklahoma City Thunder Fan. His most favorite and utmost passion was going to Gold River Casino.
