Vernon Wayne Pendleton, 74, of Mountain View, OK passed away at his home after an extended illness on Monday, November 1st, 2010. He was born on January 4, 1936 in Hobart, OK to Louis C. and Anna (Davis) Pendleton. He moved to Mountain View, OK in 1947. Vernon served 20 years in the United States Air Force and retired in 1974 at the rank of T/Sgt. He married Gayle Askew in 1957 and to that union 4 children were born. Vernon married Betty R. Watson in Oklahoma City on June 23, 2001.Vernon owned a Western Auto store in Mountain View in the mid 1970's, drove a school bus for many years and ran the clock at football and basketball games. He received recognition from Mountain View Public Schools for 25 years of service to the school. He refereed basketball games and was on the Mountain View Fair Board, Chamber of Commerce member, president of the Housing Authority, member of the American Legion and loved to lead singing in church. Vernon was an active member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step mom that raised him, Jewell Pendleton, son Kelly Pendleton, a step-son Jack Watson and three sisters, Ruby, Denise and Opal
