Vera Charlene Pulley, 86, of Hobart, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 19, 2016. She was born on November 4, 1929 to Clarence and Florence (Wright) Johnston in Sentinel, Oklahoma. She married John Lewis Pulley in Hobart, Oklahoma. Lewis passed away in 1991. Charlene worked at Grinnell's Pharmacy in Hobart for many years before being elected as Hobart City Clerk. She was the Hobart City Clerk for 19 years before her retirement. She worked part-time after retirement for Edward D. Jones Financial Services and for the Ray & Martha's Funeral Home. Charlene was a dedicated Christian and a faithful member of the Hobart Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Florence (Wright) Johnston, one brother Clarence (Red) Johnston; her husband John Lewis Pulley; a daughter Joyce (Pulley) Montgomery; a son Jeffery Lewis Pulley; a grandson Josh Pulley; two brother-in-laws Leonard Sweeney, James Morgan and a sister-in-law Jenny Johnston.
Survivors include a son John Pulley and wife Loretta of Sharon, Kansas; a son-in-law Gary Montgomery of Friendship, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law Joyce Pulley of Cresson; four grandchildren Melissa Montgomery Smith and husband Mark of Navajo, Oklahoma, Tanya Montgomery Cramer and husband Josh of Altus, Oklahoma, Brandon Pulley and wife Ginger of Beaumont, Texas, and Jennifer (Pulley) Mattingly and husband Brett of Columbia, Maryland; great-grandchildren Maxwell, Mitchell and Macee Smith of Navajo, Oklahoma, Mason and Collin Pulley of Beaumont, Texas; Malachi, Morales, Haley and Zach Cramer of Altus, Oklahoma; and Samuel Lewis Mattingly of Columbia, Maryland. Three sisters Willene Sweeney of Denison, Texas; Nelda Lincecum and husband Robert of Houston, Texas; and Janell Morgan of Garland, Texas.
Charlene leaves behind a host of family and friends.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at The Church of Christ Hobart, Oklahoma. Bill Coffin will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home Hobart, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hobart Church of Christ or The Hobart Nursing and Rehab Center.
