Velma Beth Phyillaier

Velma Beth Phyillaier, 94, of Weatherford, OK went home to be with her Lord and loving husband, Paul, on March 2nd, 2012 at the Corn Heritage Village of Weatherford. She was born to Oscar and Eletha (Thompson) Rogers, on August 12th, 1917, in a farmhouse three miles south of Eakly. Velma was the oldest of eight children. As a young adult Velma asked Jesus to save her one night in the farm home near Colony. In 1936 Velma graduated from high school in Colony, OK. She was united in marriage to Paul, July 22, 1942 in Meridian, MS, who preceded her in death, March 4, 2009. They were married for 67 years. Velma was very active in the Church. She was a GA leader, Sunday School teacher, Sunbeams worker and was also active in the youth department. Later she taught the older adult ladies in Sunday School. She also sang in the Silver Chords choir. During her free time, Velma enjoyed sewing, painting, cooking and working with the children in church and even worked as a Girl Scout Leader. Velma and Paul spent most of their adult lives being contributing members of the Carnegie Community. She worked for Dr. Badshaw, the Carnegie Hospital and also Ray & Martha Hackney at the
funeral home. Velma and her husband set a beautiful example of a long, loving, caring relationship for anyone who was blessed to know them.

She was precede in death by her parents, husband, Paul, in-laws, Lewis and Lizzie Phyillaier, granddaughter, Daily Joy Horn, several great-grandchildren, all her brothers and sisters, Ruby Rogers, Lewis Rogers, Ima Lois Rogers Mott and her husband, Gordon, Thelma Modene Rogers Taylor, O.E. Rogers, J.W. and Pat Rogers, and Forrest Gene Rogers, Paul's brothers and sisters and their spouses, Elvin and Gladys Phyillaier, Rose and Laury Pearson, Delores Phyillaier, Fred and Dorothy Phyillaier, Arthur and Ida Phyillaier

Funeral Services: 2:00p.m., Monday, March 5, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, Carnegie
Officiating will be Dr. Arthur Blount
Burial will follow at the Alfalfa Cemetery
under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home
