Valerie Ann Daingkau

August 18, 1948 — August 17, 2020

Valerie Ann (McCann) Daingkau, 71, went to her heavenly home on August 17, 2020 with loved ones by her side.

She was born on August 18, 1948 to Joe and Lucille McCann. Valerie was a member of the TeMoak Shoshone-Paiute Battle Mountain. She attended and graduated from the Stewart Indian School in Stewart, Nevada. Valerie loved school and became active in clubs such as 4-H, FHA, and drill team.

After graduation Valerie looked for work. Ambitious and determination, she taught herself how to weld metal together. This skill allowed her to be employed as a ship welder for a number of years after leaving home.

She eventually met her first husband, Eastman Haumpy, and became a mother of three children: Robin, Gwendolyn, and Billy. Valerie followed her husband and moved to Oklahoma to be near his family. They divorced sometime after, which gave her the opportunity to start over.

Later on she met the love of her life, Clyde Daingkau Jr., and made their home in Carnegie, Oklahoma. From this union she became mother of three: Traci, Richard, and Mildred.

She found work as a waitress and cook at one of the local restaurants. Although satisfied, Valerie made the decision to pursue a career in nursing. Upon receiving her license as a CNA (certified nurse aide), she became employed at the Carnegie Nursing Home for a number of years. She retired in 2009.

After retirement she moved to Decatur, Arkansas; but eventually moved to Kansas, Oklahoma in 2011. Valerie soon became an active member of the New Green Baptist Church and dedicated her life to the Lord.

Valerie will always be missed and loved. She cherished life and lived for her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her joy was the ability to laugh, tease, and joke with all of them.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Lucille McCann; husband, Clyde Daingkau Jr.; son, Richard Daingkau, brothers, Ralph McCann and Christopher McCann, one sister Hilda Rambeau, and nephew, Shannon Robin Holmes.

Valerie is survived by her father, Joe McCann of Yerington, Nevada; her children Gary and Robin Johnson of Lawton, Oklahoma; Jennifer and Billy Haumpy of Colorado; Gwendolyn and companion Robert Hainta of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Russell and Traci Sixkiller of Kansas, Oklahoma; Mildred Watson and companion Tony Foreman of Kansas, Oklahoma; one step daughter Gwendolyn "Wendy" Daingkau of Salina, Oklahoma; 23 grandchildren, and approximately 11 great grandchildren.
