Vada Ammon Streun

Vada Ammon Streun was born on March 15, 1918, in Mountain View Ok. and passed from this life on earth June 7, 2015, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 97.

Vada graduated from Mountain View High School in Mountain View, Ok. in 1935. She was married to Kurt William Streun on August 3, 1942. They lived on the farm raising crops of cotton, wheat, milo, and oats, and also raised cattle and enjoyed having chickens. Her sons raised pigs, and had a lot of fun with them. Prior to her marriage, she worked at the five and dime store in Mountain View, OK, where she assisted customers, was a cashier and set up new displays. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Mr. Kurt Streun. She loved children, her family and all the family reunions with tons of nieces and nephews and their families.

She was a homemaker, raising two sons, cooking meals, canning foods, making jelly and jam, pies, cakes, keeping house and working side by side with her husband on the farm for 58 years until Kurt passed to heaven. Sewing was a hobby, she made quilts, blankets and pillows. She joined the church and began her service to our Lord in May of 1947. In 1961, she moved membership to First Baptist in Carnegie. In 1970, she moved her membership to Alfalfa Baptist Church. During her lifetime Vada enjoyed attending all church services, helping with funeral meals and singing all the wonderful hymns she enjoyed so much. She was a Sunday School Teacher of children as beginners and the primary age groups, and enjoyed the Vacation Bible school times. She attended as long as she was able and even drove until her later years, living on the farm until 2013, then later with her son Gerald.

Vada was preceded in death by her father, Fred Lee Hines and her mother Stella Florence Inks Hines, her husband Kurt William Streun in 2001, son Danny Leon Streun in 2007, her four sisters Nina, Mary, Ruby and Fern as well as a host of friends she made during all the years.

Vada is survived by her son Gerald Kenneth Streun and his wife Linda Gale Streun of Norman, OK, Daughter-in-law, Patrecia (Pat) Streun of Oklahoma City, OK.

Grandchildren: Jeff Streun and wife Kandace of Vian, OK, Christie Eads and husband Clint of Belton, MO, Andrea Adams and husband Jessie of Oklahoma City, OK, and Michelle Camp and husband Jason of Cleburne, TX

Great Grandchildren: Shawntae Shook Linton, Lacey Shook Willis and husband Brandon, Riley Lawson, Tanner Eads, Kennedy Eads, Dylan Thurber, Brock Streun, Conner Adams and Aiden Adams.
Great-Great Grandchildren: Tiffany Linton, Jarrod Shook and Westyn Willis.
She loved to watch The Lawrence Welk Show, Dancing With The Stars, and The Amazing Race.

Funeral Service will be at the Alfalfa Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at the Mountain View Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
