Tonia Leigh Cozad

July 11, 1976 — January 12, 2019

Tonia Leigh Cozad, 42, of Anadarko, OK passed away peacefully on January 12, 2019 in Carnegie, OK after a long and lengthy illness. She was born on July 11, 1976 in Los Angeles, CA to Charles Lee Cozad and LaVerne Marie Willis.

Tonia was both a proud Kiowa and Paiute - she loved her heritage and was fascinated by her culture. She was a woman of tradition and passionately carried on her tribes' customs and beliefs. Tonia was gifted with a beautiful voice and could always be found near the drum singing with pride alongside her family. Tonia was also a talented craftswoman and enjoyed beading and making regalia.

Those close to Tonia cherished her love for life and her incredibly caring nature. Her initials, TLC, are appropriately synonymous with "tender love and care." She loved and accepted everyone regardless of their past or differences.

Tonia spent her early life in California and lived in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Bishop. She eventually made her way back to Oklahoma to be with her Kiowa family in Anadarko.

Tonia will be greatly missed but her legacy will be carried on by her daughter Hannah Lee Cozad.
