THOMAS "JUNIOR" BROOKSHIRE
Thomas Skeet "Junior" Brookshire Jr., 68, of Anadarko passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2022 in Oklahoma City. He was born in Anadarko on July 13, 1954 to Thomas Brookshire Sr. and Tiny (Vasquez) Brookshire.
Junior attended Anadarko Public Schools all of his life, graduating in 1972.
As a teenager, he worked for his father at the Star Station located in Anadarko, and then went to work at Hollytex Carpet Mills until it closed in the year 2000. Afterward, he was employed by the City of Anadarko for a couple of years, and then went to work for the Anadarko Public Schools as a janitor at the Anadarko Middle School and Jr. High. He spent 14 years there until his retirement. Many students requested to call him Grandpa throughout his time with the schools.
Junior loved sitting on his porch as much as he could, talking to friends and relatives, while waving at passing cars who would honk their greeting. He also loved keeping his yard looking immaculate and decorating it every holiday with his sister Lila. When he wasn't working, he loved listening to the 60's and 70's music, and watching his beloved Sooners and Dallas Cowboys.
Junior was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nicholas and Ladislada Vasquez; his parents, Thomas and Tiny Brookshire; his aunts and uncles, Floyd Vasquez, Nellie Guererro, Andrea Santos, Angela Gomez, Famie Gomez, Ralph Vasquez Sr., John Vasquez and Tony Vasquez; his cousins, Reynaldo "Kirby" Gomez, Geraldine "Jeri" Severns, Tom Gomez, Ricky Gomez, Amelia Gomez, Caroline "Bebo" Riley, Cecelia "Cissi" Reagan, and his godchild, Tina Wishon.
He is survived by his sister, Lila Brookshire of Anadarko; his godchildren, Neko Campa, Annette Vasquez, Tim Vasquez, Monica Wilder, Jeremy Upchurch, Jim Stephenson Jr., Candice Mullins, Shannon Stephenson, Tiny Prince, Daniel Gomez, Kirby Beaty, Amelia Wilder and Danny Rodriguez Jr.
Junior was loved and respected by a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 29 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Anadarko.
A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 30 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Anadarko.
Interment will follow the services at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko.
Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home of Anadarko.
