Theodore Roosevelt "Ted" Creepingbear Jr., 70, of Anadarko was born Feb. 4, 1951 in Lawton to Theodore Creepingbear Sr. and Rita Creepingbear, and passed away Feb. 1, 2022 in Anadarko.
He was a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma and of Pawnee and Arapaho tribes of Oklahoma descent.
Ted graduated in 1970 from Del City High School, then went to the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, N.M. to further his education in fine arts.
His older brother Mirac Creepingbear taught him how to sculpt, and Ted became a well-known stone carver across the U.S. with artwork all over the world. He met many friends during this time and was very famous for his artwork.
He married the former Elaine Purdy a/k/a Sugar Purdy in February 1988 and became the father of two girls, Bay'Nah and Marian Creepingbear of Anadarko. He also had another daughter, Anna Marie of Colorado.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Creepingbear; daughters, Bay'Nah Elaine Creepingbear, Marian G. Creepingbear and Anna Creepingbear; six grandchildren, Daniel, Damon K. Nimsey Jr., Anthony, Maggie, Mary and Morning Star of Anadarko; two brothers, William Ned Creepingbear and Bob Burns Creepingbear of Apache, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Myra, Marrissa and Vera; his brothers, Bennett, Wilbur, Mirac Sr.; Timothy Ray and Kenny; his mother, Rita Creepingbear, and his father, Theodore Creepingbear Sr.
