Thelma Modene Taylor

June 19, 1926 — November 21, 2011

Modene Taylor, 85, of Eakly, OK passed away Monday, November 21st, 2011. She was born June 19, 1926 to Oscar Ezra and Eletha Alpha (Thompson) Rogers, 3 miles south of Eakly. She started to school at Colony, OK and then Banner grade school near Eakly and graduated from Eakly High School in May of 1944. She married Edsel D. Taylor on September 15, 1944 and shortly after Edsel was drafted into the Army. Modene stayed with Edsel's folks until he returned after the War. Edsel and Modene owned and farmed for 56 years on the farm she was born on. To this union four children were born, Dwane, Donna, Judy and Roger. She was a homemaker as well as always helping on the farm right along with Edsel and the kids by hoeing peanuts, sacking peanuts, moving irrigation pipe, raising a garden, canning, cooking and quilting. Modene was a long time member of the 1st Assembly of God Church of Eakly and attended church there for many years and loved her Lord very much. She was a member of the 1st Assembly of God women Ministries Group and the Oklahoma Home and Community Education Group. She enjoyed cooking and baking for the many Church and Club activates. Everyone loved Modene's Strawberry Cake, Banana Pudding, homemade cobblers, potato salad, and especially her special cole slaw, they would look for the strawberry cake on the dessert table first to see if Modene had brought one. She loved her family very much and her Grand, Great and Great-Great Grandchildren very much and they were her pride and joy. She always carried pictures of each one of them where ever she went.


She is survived by her husband Edsel of the home

She was preceded in death by both parents, her in-laws, her daughter, Judy Ray, Great Granddaughter Mckyna Sharry Gracia, 4 Brothers, Lewis Rogers, J.W. Rogers, O.E. Rogers, Forest Gene Rogers and 2 sisters, Ruby Rogers and Ima Lois Mott.


Funeral Services: 2:00p.m., Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Assembly of God Church, Eakly, OK
Officiating: Brother Benny Tipton
Burial will follow at the Eakly Cemetery, Eakly, OK
Under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie
