Terri Leigh Watkins

April 16, 1963 — June 19, 2013

Jim and Marvine Watkins' family were blessed on April 16, 1963, with the birth of their precious daughter Terri Leigh Watkins. She was called to her eternal home on Wed. June 19, 2013, at the age of 50.
Terri attended school at Pauls Valley, Okla. until she graduated and moved to Woodward, Okla. where she worked for OARC for more than 18 years, there she was active in Special Olympics, proudly participated in the softball throw and track.
She moved to Hobart, Okla. In 1999, where she worked for Searchlight, Inc. then to Anadarko in 2001, to be closer to her family.
Terri worked for Apex, Inc., OEMA, and Gold River Casino before retiring due to a long term illness.
Terri was a life time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she also enjoyed attending church with her friends at Bethel Baptist Church and First Baptist Church both in Anadarko. She loved her sisters from the group home where she lived: Lisa, Tabitha, Ginger, Dawn, Mildred, and Mary. Terri was blessed to have loving, caring, staff from Apex who provided training and care to her- Joan Guinn, Dorothy Boynton Stacy Robinson, Patty Chasenah, Sherry Colindres, Marie Kaulaity, Sherry McCoy, Shana Farley, and many others from Apex.
Over the years Terri was active in Oklahoma People First which is an advocacy organization which teaches individuals with disabilities how to advocate for themselves and others.
Terri is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents- Grayson and Stella Ellis Parton, and paternal grandparents Martin Luther and Emma Watkins; parents-Jim and Marvine Parton-Watkins, siblings: James Paul, Marvin Grayson, Robert Don, Janis Kay, Timothy Joe, Anthony Wayne and Aaron Paul.
Terri is survived by her remaining siblings: C.J. Watkins of Washita, Ok. Elaine and Mel Sullivan of Anadarko, Cheryle and Wesley Stephenson of Binger, Ok., Mike and Donna Watkins, Jeff Watkins, Anne and Douglas Pemberton all of Anadarko, Ok. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends whom she loved.
Terri loved spending time with her family, she particularly loved her “Apex family†whom she spent many years- going on activities, working together, living together. She enjoyed helping others and was a loving, affectionate person who always had a smile on her face.
Anyone who knew Terri knew she loved to dance, that was one of her favorite things to do, she never missed a street dance or Apex sponsored dance.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 10:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with brother in law Mel Sullivan officiating, conducting- brother Douglas Pemberton. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko under the direction of Stevenson Funeral Home.
