Ted George Bryant
February 22, 1937 - March 28, 2023
Ted George Bryant was born on February 22, 1937 in Mangum, Oklahoma to parents George Dewey and Jennie Ruth Bryant. The youngest of 4 siblings, Teddy was known to be charming, hardworking, a gifted athlete, and to be a little ornery from time to time. He graduated from Mangum High School in 1956 and began his work career in carpentry and construction, joining his father and brothers with Bryant and Sons Roofing and Construction. He married the love of his life, Sharon Johnston, and this union brought their only child, Terry Glenn in 1957. Ted transitioned his career to the oil industry, moving to west Texas and starting with BJ Services and later Warren Petroleum, eventually building his own home from the ground up. His oil career peaked serving as Maintenance Superintendent working offshore of Banana, Zaire, (now known as Republic of the Congo) Africa for Gulf Oil Company. He retired in the mid-1990's and moved to Cordell, Oklahoma, building a homestead just a few miles west from his son and grandsons. He enjoyed farming, running cattle, and most importantly, being close to his family. He watched every John Wayne film countless times and was loyal to his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Ted was a great cook and was known as "Cookie" or the camp cook to his family and friends on many hunting trips. Some of his specialties included ribeye steak, gumbo, prime rib, and Texas style chili. Grandad was a skilled craftsman and was always working on a new project or repair in his garage. He was known to spend his evenings on the front porch, watching the sunset and visiting with those he cared about most.
Ted went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 28, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Lawrance Edward and Alfred Dale, sister Ermine Sue Horn, his only wife Sharon, and his son Terry. He is survived by his two grandsons, Tyson Bryant and wife Kristine, Jayton Bryant and wife Jacy, four great grandchildren, Theodore, Thomas, Jack, and Jovi, as well as other family and friends.
