Sylvia Fern (Williams) Zumwalt, 94, Lawton, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, in Lawton, OK. She was born in Tishomingo, OK on December 27, 1920, to Simon Bird and Sidnea Bell (Smith) Williams. Sylvia was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Sunday school class in Lawton, OK, and was very active in her earlier years until she became ill.. She was office manager of the Comanche County Memorial Hospital for nine years, then became a deputy at the Comanche County County Clerk's Office for nine to ten years and retired from there. Sylvia was a long time member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and served in all offices, then became a member of the Past Presidents Organization of the Lawton Chapter. She was also a member of the Geneology Society and was instrumental in starting the Geneology room at the library. Sylvia was very involved in getting the first edition of the History of Comanche County Vol.1 book published. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and did a great deal of research on our family history. Sylvia was a avid reader all her life.


She is survived by her daughter and son in law: Helen J. and George E. McKay, Lawton, Oklahoma,
three grandchildren: Daniel A. Mitchell, Las Vegas, Nevada
Susan K. Mitchell, Sacramento, California
William NB Mitchell and wife Carolyn, Travis Air Force Base, California
three great-grandchildren: Trevor, Camden, and Lauren Kathryn Mitchell

She was precede in death by her husband Lonzo "Lonnie" Thomas Zumwalt and daughter Billie Kathryn Mitchell Allen.


Graveside Services: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014
At the Mountain Park Cemetery, Mountain Park, OK
Burial to follow, under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart, OK
