Sylvia Lou Bolding, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, left her earthly home on October 19, 2024. Sylvia was born on April 1, 1936, to Mark D. and Bronuia L. (Bishop) Reynolds in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The family soon moved to Oklahoma City, where Sylvia graduated from Classen High School. During college at OSU, Sylvia met William Long (Bill) Bolding, and they began a beautiful 66-year marriage after graduation in 1958.
Sylvia and Bill spent their lives in gracious service to Christ, their churches, and the community, raising three daughters whose lives were blessed and shaped by their commitment to each other and the family. Sylvia was always full of energy and joy. Her talents were many, and she pursued and shared them with enthusiasm and generosity. They included cooking (especially caramel rolls, breads, and jellies), sewing (countless dresses for her daughters, granddaughters, and herself), painting, quilting, stained glass, and collecting and carding vintage buttons. She was also an active and contributing member of Mothers' Club, P.E.O., Christian women's groups, Fortnightly, and "Tuesday Set." She enjoyed many special friendships with these women and with her walking partners.
Sylvia was an extraordinary home-maker and gracious hostess. She loved having parties to honor others, enjoyed beautiful yards, grew and shared colorful flowers, and fed many family, friends, and birds.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Bronuia Reynolds, her sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Chris Christopherson, niece Tina Christopherson, son-in-law Sam Cowherd, and her father- and mother-in-law, William A. and Mary A. Bolding.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill Bolding, of the home; daughters M. Beth (Julian) Ford, of Ponca City; Rebecca L. (Becky) Cowherd, of Claremore; and Brooke (Greg) Coney of Sand Springs. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have wonderful memories of her love: Allison (Aaron) Wilson of Stillwater (June and Hope); Jason (Kayla) Ford of Collinsville (Jonah and Emmalyn); Katlyn (Eric) Gilbert of Tulsa (William and Elizabeth); Robyn Coney of Tulsa; Carly (Matt) Ogan (Millie) of Columbia, Missouri; and William Connor Coney of Tulsa.
The family thanks their friends, church, and community for their love and support of Sylvia throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Hobart First United Methodist Church.
