Sonja L. Witt

Sonja Witt, 49 of Anadarko, OK was born on June 17, 1964 in Pueblo, CO to Grady and Jessie (Sisk) Howard. She passed from this life on May 1, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
A memorial service is planned for 2pm May 10, 2014 at the Squaretop Baptist Church.
Sonja attended Anadarko Public School and went on to marry Ricky Anderson on February 2, 1981 in Wichita Falls, TX. From this marriage came one daughter Melissa Sue. She then started what everyone knows as Sonja's Drive Thru on 1st and Central. Sonja also had another very special child come into her life. Ryan Lee Anderson, although not his birth mother they shared a special mother/child bond. She really enjoyed watching him grow from silly baby to a young man. Sonja married the love of her life, Shorty Witt, October 31, 1999 in Wichita Falls, TX. By this time she had sold the drive thru and together they opened Chickasha Taxi and Chickasha Pawn. They worked hard side by side until Shorty was diagnosed with cancer June of 2004. They spent every minute together until his death on October 5, 2004. She then went to work for her Best friend, David Luttrell at Ole's Pawn Shop. Sonja later went on to buy the pawn shop and that's where she was until she got the horrible news of her own declining health. She fought a long and hard battle till she couldn't fight anymore.
Sonja's first and foremost hobby was “collecting†children. She was known as Sonja mom or Grandma D to many. She loved each and every one like a mother should. She loved to read, she would read for hours. She also loved to crotchet, and if you were lucky enough she would make you one of her beautiful Afghans. Anytime she told you to pick your yarn you knew that it would only be a matter of time before you had your very own afghan in hand. Her favorite family get together was floating the Illinois River with her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her mother Jessie Howard, her husband Shorty Witt and one brother Dennis Howard.
Survivors include two children Melissa Sue Vance and her husband Jeremy of Cogar, OK. Ryan Lee Anderson of Anadarko, OK. Two grandchildren Cheyenne and Lyndon Vance of Cogar, OK. Her daddy Grady Lee Howard of Lawton, OK. Two sisters Judy and her husband Jim Ortiz of Guymon, OK, Lavida Chandler of Anadarko, OK. One sister in law Karen Howard of Pueblo, CO. And numerous other family and friends.
