Sidney Theodore Lee

July 25, 1922 — September 7, 2010

Sidney Theodore (Sid) Lee, 88, Carnegie, OK passed away on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 at his home. Sidney was born the third of six children on July 25th,1922 to Clyde and Bessie (Rushton) Lee at Sedan, OK. He married Nina Mae Langston from Oklahoma City on July 26,1946 in Wichita Falls TX. His education was at Green Valley and Pecan Schools, mostly under the tutorial of his father Clyde Lee. His Pecan School second grade teacher Louise (Stenger) Monroe, later taught all four of his children in the third grade at Carnegie. His Oklahoma Heritage within the Carnegie, Mountain View, Saddle Mountain, Green Valley, community, covers over 3 generations within the Lees, Rushtons, Paynes, Courtneys, Cooks, and Smith families, along with their descendants. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher. During World War II, he worked in California for Northrup Aircraft, building planes for the war effort. Afterward he returned to rock quarries for over 40 years with the last 27 years as a lead man, and supervisor at Dolese Brothers at Cyril and Cooperton until retirement at age 75. He kept ranching operations active until last year at age 87. He was a very incredibly physically strong person throughout his years from the story passed down that he would hold a Model T Ford up, while his brother Larry changed a flat to his ability to work on about anything with a lone pair of Cee Tee brand pliers. His strength was so much that he often broke those pliers which did happen often. His residence has been at the same location 13 miles South of Carnegie, since the mid-forties with remodeling and expanding in both 1963 and 1985. Following the last remodel, he took on the project of covering the house with rock, mostly from the Dolese Cooperton Quarry and for the most part by himself which was an exceptional feat for one that was not a rock mason.
