Sherry Sue Owen

Sherry Sue Owen passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020. Sherry was born Sherry Sue Steele on December 8, 1944 in Manhatton, Kansas to Milton G. and Ruth E. Steele. She lived in Manhattan, Kansas most of her early years and then moved to Empire, Kansas. The family moved to El Segundo, California in 1959 where she completed her Freshman and Sophmore high school years before moving to Hawthorne, California where she graduated form Leuzinger High School in 1962.

Sherry married Curtis Foster who gave her, her wonderful son, Lawrence (Larry) Foster. She was divorced in 1975. Sherry met Wallis (Wally) Owen in August of 1988 in California and married in April 1989. They moved to Hobart, Oklahoma in March 1997 where Wally lived growing up.
Sherry worked for Pac Telephone in Hawthorne, CA for 13 years, three years in banking and completed her working career after 17 years at Ampex Computer Systems Division in El Segundo. She was one of the last six to close the plant.

Sherry made friends everywhere she lived and treated them like family. Sherry was known for her kindness and generosity in her community. Sherry never forgot a birthday and always made sure you received a birthday card. Sherry loved going to church to worship the Lord and spending time with her fellow worshipers. Sherry could always find enjoyment watching Hallmark movies or Westerns.

Sherry leaves behind;
Her loving son, Lawrence (Larry) Foster, wife Lisa and three grandson's, Matthew, Lucas and Michael.
Her sister, Dolores (Dee) Steele, brother Joe Steele, and nephew Todd Balentine (Laura).
Two step-daughters, Lisa Soulegrette (Jim), Patty Stinger (Tony).
Two step-sons, Jimmy (Cristen), Jay (Holly).
Sister-in-laws, Barbara Davis (Gaylen), Allene Schubert, Judy Prince and Lucielle Owen.
And many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and cousins.

Sherry was preceded in death by her husband Wally Owen, her parents Milton and Ruth Steele, Sisters, Marilyn Balentine and Joyce Downer.
