Ruth M Horn

June 20, 1927 — December 23, 2018

RUTH MARIE LAMB HORN was born on June 20, 1927 at home near Carnegie, Ok. to Ben A. and Ida Mae Lunsford Lamb. Ben purchased land near Fieldton, Tx. and farmed with his family until Ida Mae died in 1938. Ruth, eleven years old was the oldest of the five children. Her father brought Ruth and her brothers, Bill and Checker, and her sisters, Evalou and Gussie, back to Oklahoma to raise with the help of Grandparents Chester and Laura Lunsford and Uncle Al and Allie Mae Lunsford. Ruth attended school at Cowden, Mountain View, and Alfalfa. She gave her heart to Jesus as a young girl while attending the New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. On January 15, 1945 she wed Dell Horn in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Dell and Ruth's home, where they operated a farming operation, was four miles east of Alfalfa, Oklahoma. They raised two daughters, Paula Dell and Frances Marie. Ruth was a member of the Alfalfa Baptist Church where she was very active; also the Alfalfa School and Community activities. Ruth was known for her cooking, cleaning, and the ability to help others. She became a second "Mom" to many young people in the community.

Ruth is happily rejoicing in heaven with friends and family that have preceded her in death which include her parents, grandparents, and several in-laws, aunts, and uncles who were very special to her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Dell Horn; her sister, Gussie Ben Lamb Smith, and her brothers, Billy Joe Lamb and James Chester "Checker" Lamb.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Evalou Ledford of Weatherford, Ok. and a sister in law Quintella Horn Baysinger of Las Vegas, Nv; her daughters, Paula Dell Horn Squires and husband Carlos of Alfalfa, Ok and Frances Marie Horn VanLandingham and her husband Mike of Lexington, Ok. She is survived by Grandchildren Barry Paul Squires and wife Kim of Alfalfa, Ok, Brad Carl Squires and wife Kenna of Mason, Tx. and Jacy Dell VanLandingham Wylie and husband Eric of Tuttle, Ok. She is also survived by Great Grandchildren who lovingly called her "Granny Great" Shelby Lynn Squires Ridling and husband Rhett of Sentinel, Ok; Kade Olsen Squires of Alfalfa, Ok.; and Jagger Wayne Wylie and Jovie Marie Wylie of Tuttle, Ok. Ruth also is survived by one Great Great Grand Child, Dylan Kate Ridling of Sentinel. Ruth was loved and will be missed by a host of family and friends,
