Ruby Ellen (Carter) Blalock was born August 14, 1922 to W.T. and Ruth (Rogers) Carter outside of Gracemont, Oklahoma. She was the sixth child of nine children born to this union. The family moved to the Cement, Oklahoma area after her birth and she attended Highview School there. She met L.W. (Bully) Blalock there, as the families were neighbors, and they married on December 14, 1939. Of this union, Leslie and Donis were born. She lived most of her life in Anadarko, mainly as a home maker. She worked for Leach's Grocery and the Gold Kist peanut mill. She was a charter member of the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until illness required her to enter Corn Heritage Center, where she passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2019.
Ruby dearly loved her family, brothers, sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, sons and daughter, grandkids, great grandkids, neighbors, friends, and Virginia Avenue church members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband L.W. Blalock, daughter-in-law Phyllis Blalock, brothers: Edward Carter of Canada, J.E. Carter of Arkansas, Bobby Carter of Nevada, Wayne Carter of California, sisters: Geneva Shoptaw of Binger, Lenora Beavers of California, and Mildred Wallace of Kansas.
She is survived by son, Leslie Blalock of Anadarko,
daughter, Donis Hardaway of Weatherford,
3 grandchildren: Jamie Lynch of Anadarko,
Sheila and David Jones of Elk City,
Brett and Karri Crain of Binger,
8 great grandchildren: Brady Lynch of Anadarko,
Aaron Jones, Lauren Jones, Morgan and Dustin Ferris, and Rylan Jones of Elk City,
Brenton Crain, Colton Crain, and Dayton Crain of Binger,
2 great-great grandchildren: Brylan Jones of Elk City
Tripp Crain of Binger,
1 sister Loetta Moore of Texas,
and special friends: Marilyn Lyons, Theresa Moser, and Imogene Spear of Anadarko.
