Roy Bud "Buddy" Reed

June 16, 1962 — November 8, 2023

Roy Bud "Buddy" Reed, 61, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at his home in Carnegie, OK surrounded by his family. He was born on June 16, 1962, in Clarendon, TX to George Reed and Virginia Woodruff. Many knew him as Buddy.
Buddy was a loving man and father who helped anyone as long as he was able. He was blessed with two daughters, Katee and Jeannie.

Buddy lived a rich, full life doing what he loved best - he was a mechanic for Paul's Savage and Wrecker Service, and later he was a custodian/janitor/bus driver for the Carnegie Schools. He also was a member of the Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department. Buddy loved working on cars, messing with his horses, hunting, riding four wheelers and three wheelers, and being around his daughters and grandchildren.
Buddy loved the time he spent with his daughters at the rodeo arena during Kid's Night or on trail rides. He also spent many early mornings watching for the perfect deer to come into his sights. Buddy looked forward to hunting season every year. Buddy spent time training bird dogs as well.
Buddy loved telling a story about his two girls when he took them hunting when they were twelve. His younger daughter, Jeannie, happened to see a baby bobcat and got out howling, "Here Kitty, Kitty." At the same time, a deer came running up the pasture. He yelled at Jeannie to get her butt back in that truck. As soon as the door slammed, Dad saw a 'doe' and shot it only to find out it was a buck with two very small but different-sized horns. He proceeded to give a science lesson to his eldest daughter, Katee. This made her not pursue a career in science. He loved to rehash this tale to both his kids and anyone who would listen every time he talked about hunting.
Jeannie wrote a poem memorializing their dad titled "The Man That Mattered". "Words can never express how much you meant to us. You were the dad that stepped up and took charge. You used it in many ways that meant so much. You taught us many things that we didn't understand at the time, but now we do. You taught us to be careful, have an open heart, and to be ourselves. You were a mother in some cases, but the best father a girl could have. You did things that people thought were impossible for a dad, but you did the greatest. You showed us what love looked like. "

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Reed and Virginia Woodruff.
