Rosemary S Toyebo

April 9, 1923 — January 1, 2015

Rosemary Sadongei Toyebo was born on April 9, 1923, to Elizabeth (Calisay) and Mark Sadongei at Zoletone, Oklahoma. She attended and graduated from Sedan High School. While in school there she played basketball and softball, which is why she was such an avid sports fan. She was a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. She married Luke Walton Toyebo, Sr. at Rainy Mtn. Kiowa Indian Baptist Church. Rev. Frank Venable married this couple April 17, 1948, and they have been happily married for 67 years. Rosemary started her working years at Ft. Sill army base during WW II, and then began her tenure of employment with the Bureau of Indian Affairs at Concho Indian Agency and then transferred to the Anadarko Agency and Area Office in Anadarko, Oklahoma where she retired after forty years of service. In her spare time she played softball with the Agency women's team. She was a "SLUGGER" who often served as a clean up batter. She gave her life to The Lord at an early age and was baptized at Rainy Mtn. Kiowa Indian Baptist Church. She faithfully attended Rainy Mtn. Church, serving as the Choir Director, Youth Director and Treasurer for numerous years. She was a devout Christian who walked the Jesus road daily. Her daily life consisted of helping family, neighbors, friends and witnessing every opportunity she could. She leaves behind a legacy to her faith. Rosemary was an avid OU & Anadarko sports fan. She was a season ticket holder and followed the Sooners to various bowl games and tournaments. She followed her children and grandchildren in their academic and athletic endeavors. She rarely missed an event.
