Rosalie Gomez

February 5, 1956 — December 8, 2015

Rosalie "Rosie" Jones Gomez, 59, of Carnegie, Oklahoma, passed away on December 8, 2015. She was born on February 5, 1956, to Frank Saumty Jones Sr. and Juanita Marie Kaulaity. She's a descendant of Red Tipi, Setangya (Sitting Bear), Tonkeahbo, Gotebo. She was an enrolled member of the Kiowa Tribe, but she was also a part of the Cheyenne and Cherokee Tribes. She was also a member of the Native American Church, she was a supporter of the Kiowa Gourd Clan, Black Legging Society, Southwest Vietnam Vets, Victory Club, and the Kiowa War Mothers. Rosalie graduated from Riverside Indian School. She and her mother were partners in crime, they'd be gone for days just enjoying life. She enjoyed going to the lake in the summer and Jimmy Creek at Medicine Park, which was her happy place. Rosie met the love of her life, Thomas Anthony Gomez, at Hollytex in Anadarko, Oklahoma. She married Thomas on August 8, 2008, in Concho, Oklahoma. They'd been together for thirty years, and were married for three before his passing in 2011. Rosie was an exceptional craftsman and loved going to pow-wows with her boys. Rosie was a competitive spirit in good fun. Later in her life, she was able to sing at the drum with Aaron and got to play hand-game with her teammates, the reigning champs, the "Carnegie Wildcats". She was a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Carnegie Wildcats, Dallas Cowboys, and Oklahoma Sooners. Rosie was always willing to help anyone in any situation, even when she was down on her luck. Rosie was often times sick but carried on through everything. She knew the Lord and was a God-fearing woman. Rosie was proud to tell you why she had Jones for a last name, the Agency could not spell Saumty, which was misspelled too, Tsomtay means "looking out for all your people". She always reminded everyone that she loved them, and she wanted them to know, even now, that she loved them.
