Ronnie Lynn Harmon

April 29, 1962 — February 27, 2024

Ronnie L, Harmon passed away peacefully on the morning of February 27, 2024. surrounded by his family. Ronnie was born on April 29, 1962 in Stuttgart, Germany to Bill and Wanda Harmon. He was one of eight children: Robert, Ricky, Randy, Rhygonna, Doni, Billy and fraternal twin, Rhonda. Later in life through a series of fortunate events Ronnie found that he had two more brothers: Mark and Joseph, taking the count to ten.
He attended Burns Flat High School where he became "All District" in football. He later graduated in the summer of 1980. Through mutual friendships Ronnie met the love of his life, Shelly D. Bryant and they married on October 21. 1987. Soon after, they had three beautiful children: Dustin, Candice and Tyler. Ronnie was a family man and spent most of his spare time with his children, grandchildren, and his most beloved dog "Boone." He was a kid himself and children always brought him happiness.
Ronnie loved life and it loved him. He was always the life of the party. He loved to laugh and to bring laughter to others. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, swimmer and guitarist and when the weather called for it you could find him on a putting green, at a secret fishing hole or swimming with his grandkids. He loved to play softball and was even on a few teams. He was best known for his leaping abilities trying to catch pop flies over the outfield fence.
It did not matter if he was trying his hand at a game of bag toss, throwing horse shoes, or waking up on the daily to get in his morning walks, whatever he put his hand to it all found a way into the depths of his heart as to cause some kind of strange chemical reaction that make a person succeed and succeed, he did. His competitive and determined spirit set the bar high for those around him, it was contagious.
He was a huge college football fan and from the months of September through December you could find him parked in front of his big screen, sporting crimson and cream, Cheering on his Oklahoma Sooners. To him, it was like a religion.
Anyone who knew Ronnie knew his work ethic was second to none. For fourteen years he carried mail for Marlow Post Office in Marlow, Oklahoma, a line of work that called out a different kind of determination in people. Through rain, sleet, snow, and hail each day he braved the Oklahoma weather to make his deliveries. This was a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Almost daily he would come home with stories of being chased by dogs or speaking about the kindness of the people he would meet on his daily route. It was a job that most couldn't do, but Ronnie wasn't most.
That drive and determination he continued to maintain through his cancer battle. As he slowly lost his ability to walk and talk, he had a "no surrender" attitude. If he couldn't run, he would walk. If he couldn't walk, he would crawl, Ronnie drew his strength from God and he always made that known.
Every morning, you could find his coffee cup in hand and bible in the other getting in his daily prayer time with God. His favorite verse was Philippians 4:13 " I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." I believe He did. He loved the Lord and towards the end of his life he spoke about that the most "Throw this world away." He would say, "nothing else matters more than Jesus." He knew God and God knew him. He was his friend and was unafraid to leave this world but ready to rejoice in glory.
