Ronald "Ronnie" James Ahboah, age 72, of Anadarko Oklahoma was born July 2, 1951 and passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Ronnie was affectionately known to family and friends as "Ears" and "Indian Elvis". Ron had been in ill health for the past five years. Due to his health condition, his sister Nancy's grandson, Dale Lonelodge and his companion, Courtney Lonewolf assumed responsibility for his care. The family is most appreciative for their help.
Ronnie was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Wilson and Mildred Ahboah. His paternal grandparents were Sam and Nancy (Paukie-Pretty Moon) Ahboah. His maternal grandparents were George and Alice (Witt) Ashley. His paternal great grandfather was Beahko (Viejo-Old Man, Pausotgoudle or Red Thunder) and Xo' Odle (Grass Carrier).
He was an enrolled member of the Kiowa Tribe and of Wichita and Pawnee descent. He attended Stecker Grade School, Riverside Junior High (OKC), and Central High School (OKC). He was a member of the Native American Church.
Ronnie was raised by his Aunt Fannie Ahboah Neconie, his father's sister. He lived with his Aunt Fannie and her husband Howard in Stecker from the time he was five years old until the of age 13, when Fannie passed away. It was while living with Aunt Fannie that he developed a lifelong interest in "Fancy War Dancing" and acquired his first war dance regalia at that time. For the rest of his life, until his recent illness, he traveled the "Powwow Highway" and participated in dance contests throughout the United States.
Ron lived in several states, primarily New Mexico, Arizona and California. Between traveling to powwows he worked in several fields, including security officer and teachers aid with the Navajo Nation. His parents were powwow dancers where the family, including Ron, participated for years at the "Indian Village", Cheyenne Wyoming, "Frontier Days" with the Billy Evans Horse dance group.
Ron loved to play bingo and play on the "Hill" which was just down the road from his home. One of his good friends that he would meet there on occasion was Alonzo Chalepah. He was well known throughout "Indian Country and was beloved by family and friends. He was a very kind and generous person. His sense of humor, great smile and laughter will be missed by all.
He was married twice and divorced but remained lifelong friends with both, Nancy King-Ahboah, Chinle, AZ and Marleen Parker, San Diego CA.
Survivors include: twin brother, Donnie Ahboah (Fannie), Fort Defiance AZ, Gene Ray Ahboah (Terry), Castro Valley, CA; Sister:s; Debbie Ahboah, Anadarko, OK:. Grandson Dale Lonelodge and companion Courtney Lonewolf and their children Daylen, and Kiya Lonelodge of the home; special cousin, Velma Ruth Domebo Eisenberger, many friends, and relatives.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Brother's; George Samuel Ahboah, Wilson Ahboah Jr., Gerald Ahboah, and Bobby Pewo: close nephew, Gary Lynn Pohlemann: Sisters, Norma Jean Wahnee, Nancy Lonelodge, and Wilsena "Buckwheat" Ahboah; nephew, Norman Frank Brown, and Charles Lonelodge Jr.; nieces, Velma Lonelodge and Alice Lonelodge.
