R. H. Thurman, 99, Carnegie, Oklahoma went to his heavenly home on Monday, January 30, 2023. He was born to Bill and Pearl Thurman on March 5, 1923, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. R.H. grew up and attended school in Carnegie, Oklahoma until graduating in 1941. He then attended NYA College in Cordell, Oklahoma. From 1944 until 1946, R.H. served in the U.S. Army.
After returning from deployment, he married Wynema Rae Ridenour on August 30, 1946. They had three children, Chris, Sheila, and Kent. Wynema preceded him in death in 1987.
R.H. later married Dorothy Beutler on February 12, 1990. They had no children together, but Dorothy had children. Glenda Chain, Sherry Holstead and husband Jerry, Patsy Gilley and husband Bill, Leslie Beutler and wife Rita, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren that welcomed him into their hearts and homes. Dorothy preceded him in death in 2006.
R.H. and his dad, Bill, went into business together. They did jobs with the bulldozer they bought in the early 1950's. After that, they formed Thurman and Son's Custom Harvesting, which ran for over 20 years. R.H. took over the Thurman Skating Rink from his father, Bill in 1970 and ran it until 1994. R.H., Wynema, and family joined the big loop square dance club and enjoyed the family friendly community for several years.
R.H. enjoyed spending quality time with family and was an excellent carpenter. He built barns, play houses for his children, and even helped build his own house. He had a deep love for playing different types of games and doing puzzles. R.H. enjoyed bowling with Dorothy in the Anadarko Senior Citizens League, as well. Go Hillbillys! He also enjoyed helping at the Senior center calling bingo games. He liked watching the OKC Thunder.
R.H. is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Pearl Thurman, his wife Wynema, his wife Dorothy, sister Mary and her husband Homer Hooper, brother-in-law Don Fulk, son-in-law, John Reaves, one grandson, Monte Thurman, and one great grandson, Dalton Thurman.
R.H. is survived by his sister, Paula Fulk

Daughter: Sheila Reaves
Grandchildren: Dustin Thurman and wife Melodee, Robbie Thurman and wife Heather, Randy Thurman, and wife Somer, and Anji Ison and husband Roger.
Great grandchildren: Sierra Thurman, Tanner Thurman and wife Genesis, Jase Thurman and wife Marrissa, Noah Thurman and wife Kelsey, Braeden Thurman, Kenzlee Thurman, Kylee Thurman, Olivia Ison, Austin Thurman, Abbi Thurman, Gage Thurman, Stockton Thurman, and Jagger Thurman.
Great Great grandchildren: Oliver Thurman and Nova Thurman.
