Roberta Ann Duff, 96, passed away at Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma on October 28, 2013. She was born in Roosevelt, Oklahoma on September 6, 1917 to Robert and Eva Mae (Mallory) Smith. She married Oliver Lawrence Duff on May 9, 1937. Roberta valued education and received a BS degree in Psychology and Sociology. She also obtained certifications in Child Development, Early Childhood, and Children with Special Needs. She was instrumental in helping to set up the Kiowa County Head Start Program and was involved in other Head Start Programs through out Oklahoma for many years.
Roberta was very active in the Hobart First Baptist Church and throughout the community. She taught Sunday School until she was 80 years old. She was a member of the local chapter of DAR, Fortnightly Club, and Reviewers Club. She was often asked to review books for other clubs. Roberta was, also, a very gifted artist and enjoyed painting porcelain to share with her family and friends.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband in 1984, her son, Larry Duff, her parents, two brothers, James Willis Smith and Wayne B. Smith, and one son-in-law, Gene Stoup. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Ann Walker and her husband Harmon of Edmond, Oklahoma, and their children, Larry Walker, LaDonna Sinning, and Jerry Walker, and Janice Stoup, of Hobart and her children Lyndal Stoup, Jimmy Stoup, and Kevin Stoup and her daughter-in-law Cheryl Duff and her children Terri Eidem, Kirk Duff and Todd Duff. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, as well as sisters-in-laws Tracy Smith, Velma Smith and Eula Mae Taylor, and brother-in-law Johnny Phenning.
Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013.
