Robert Wayne Russell, born March 7, 1927 passed away February 7, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bob was born in Bristow, Oklahoma to Audrey and Glen Russell where his father was employed in the oil field. He graduated from Sedan High School in 1944 where he excelled athletically, with a special love of baseball. He served in the United States Army in Italy in 1945. After his military service he returned to Sedan and worked bailing hay while he courted Lorene Zimmerman who was a student at Oklahoma College for Women, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. They were friends from high school and grew up 7 miles apart. They were married on March 28, 1947 in Lorene's home near Pecan School. To this union was born two children, Teresa Russell Bockus and Warren Keith Russell.. After his marriage to Lorene, they began farming and he purchased and operated the Texaco wholesale business in Mountain View for the next decade. After he sold the Texaco business he worked as manager at Rosevelt Material Company, which later became Dolese. In 1970 he began farming and ranching full time which was his ultimate goal. Bob was never adverse to enjoying life and loved playing baseball on an adult men's team in Mountain View, flying his multiple airplanes, bowling and playing bridge. After he retired from farming, he and Lorene enjoyed traveling in their RV, spending the winter months in South Texas. He was active of the United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge for many years. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Audrey and Glen Russell, a baby brother Frank, his brother Glen O (Bud), and his sister Jean Pearson. His wife of 63 years Lorene Zimmerman also preceded him in death on March 7th, 2011. He is survived by his children Teresa Bockus and son-in-law Henry Bockus, his son Warren Russell, his sisters June Briggs Owens, Joy Hotchkiss and Merry Carol Nelson; also by his grandchildren Hank Russell and Marie Bockus and their children Addison, Hudson and Tyson; also by grandson Andrew Benjamin and Caroline Bockus. In addition many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care Bob received by the staff and friends at Autumn Leaves. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Mountain View Masonic Lodge scholarship fund.
