Robert Dale Harris, 66, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on November 7, 2023. He was born on June 2, 1957 in Amarillo, Texas to Robert "Bob" and Billie "Sue" (Stephens) Harris. Robert Lived in New Mexico from birth until the age of 7, his family lived in Amarillo, TX, while in amarillo he was save by Jesus at the age of 8, at the First Baptist Church. The family moved back to Altus, Oklahoma in 1974, where he graduated from Navajo High School in 1976.
After graduation began his career in law enforcement in New Mexico. He then returned back to Oklahoma in 1979 and became Captain of the Burns Flat Police department for 2 years. In 1981 he became Chief of Police in Blair, OK until 1993, during that time he was a member of the Blair Baptist church where he taught Royal Ambassadors.
In 1993 he began working for the Kiowa County Sheriffs department until 2000, when he returned to New Mexico where he worked as a deputy sheriff, rancher and was on the Harding county volunteer fire department from 2001 to 2018. He then moved back to Altus, OK to spend more time with his grandsons, who were the light of his life. He then went to work at the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
(His words) He took pleasure in dedicating his life to the service of his fellow man. His life was consumed by cows, criminals, coffee, Copenhagen and the greatest of them all was the knowledge that his name was written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
