Ricky Don Renfrow

November 11, 1946 — April 9, 2016

Ricky Don "Rick" Renfrow, 69, of Anadarko passed away at 10:50 am, April 9, 2016 due to complications from a lung infection, With his daughter Michelle at his side. Rick's passing was without pain nor suffering, and joined him with his beloved Sue Lynn and the Lord for all eternity.

Rick was born November 11, 1946 to Elza & Esther (Thomasson) Renfrow in Stecker, OK. Rick was the 8th of 10 Renfrow children.

Drafted into the U.S. Army out of high school, Rick was a Purple Heart recipient during his service to the nation in the Vietnam War. At the conclusion of his service in the U.S. Army, Rick began a career as a parts & service manager with a John Deere dealership that would span over 30 years and 4 different dealerships in 4 states.

Rick married Carmonleita "Lucy" O'Donley in 1969 and together they had 2 children; Scott & Michelle "Missy". While Rick and Lucy would divorce in 1981, they both remained dedicated to their children throughout their formative years.

In 1983, Rick met his soul mate, Sue Lynn (Bruno) Terry, and they spent the next 30 years of their lives, side by side and hand in hand, sharing a deep and abiding love until Sue Lynn's passing in December of 2013.

Throughout his life, Rick had many passions, including music, fishing, golf, car racing, tractor pulling, and cooking. He was especially fond of Cajun chef Justin Wilson, and could perform an uncanny impression of the famous chef. With his brothers, Rick raced stock cars, and later with friends, built and competed in tractor pulls throughout the SW Oklahoma region. Rick taught himself to play guitar, and along with younger brother Jimm, played in a local country music band for many years.

He will be remembered for his stories of what he admittedly called a "mischievous" childhood of growing up in southwest OK. Whether it was skipping school in the 8th grade to play pool with good buddy Herbert Tilly (and being caught by the school bus driver), or being given a ticket by an Anadarko policeman for no reason whatsoever by simply driving into city limits, to officiating little league basketball and laughing at the kids so hard he couldn't blow the whistle, Rick was admittedly a rambunctious youth, and reveled in recounting those stories. He will also be remembered for work ethic and honesty he displayed throughout his careers and passed on to his children.

Rick is survived by his children; Scott and wife Lisa of Edmond, Michelle (Missy) of
Weatherford, TX, and step son Travis Terry of Chickasha; grandchildren Bria & Kieran Renfrow of Weatherford, TX and Nathan Renfrow of Edmond. He is also survived by sister Kathy (Renfrow) McCain of Anadarko, brother, Jimm of Anadarko, sister Shirley (Renfrow) Wilson, of Avinger, TX, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years Sue Lynn, parents Elza and Esther, brothers George, Dale, & Jerry, sisters Anita (Renfrow) Nichols, Mona (Renfrow) Castle & Jean (Renfrow) Taylor.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 9am-11am a t Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, 1115 S. Mission in Anadarko, followed by a Memorial tribute to Rick's life at 12 noon.
