Richard was born October 5th 1943 in Seattle, Washington to Elmer Alvin Lively & Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Cranefield Lively. Richard was the oldest of 6 children.
His earliest years were spent living in various states in the northwest. At 8 years of age he lived in Belgrade, Montana, which was one of his most favorite childhood memories. At 12 years of age his family moved to Otis, Colorado. In 1957, the family moved to 9541 Dorothy Blvd, Thornton, Colorado. Richard would graduate High School in Thornton in 1961.
On June 11, 1974 Richard married Cheryll Ann Sharp in Cordell, Ok. After a short honeymoon in Grand Lake at the family cabin, Richard & Cheryll lived in Denver. While living in Denver, Richard worked for an oil company and their first child, Shane Allen, was born in Thornton. They also lived in Steamboat Springs, Granby, Kremmling & Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado. In Steamboat Springs, Richard drove a snow plow that would plow Rabbit Ears Pass. He then moved to Kremmling, Colorado for a short time where Richard continued to work for the State of Colorado. Then he moved to Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado where Richard continued his employment with the state of Colorado. While living in Hot Sulphur Springs his 2nd child , Faith Andrea, was born in Kremmling, Colorado. Richard would change jobs and began working for AMAX, a mining & milling operation for Molybdenum, Moly as we called it, which was used for the hardening agent in steel.
While living in Hot Sulphur Springs in 1980, Richard put on His Lord in Baptism. The church family began to grow & the church & its people would build their own log cabin church building in Kremmling, Co. His family had many great adventures here making lifetime friends in the Lord.
In 1985, Richard and family moved back to Cordell with the mine closing in Colorado. Richard was active with the Boy Scouts of America as a leader and specialized in flag etiquette. Richard worked for 12 years for Cordell Schools as the Vo-Tech Bus driver before becoming a jailor/dispatcher at the Washita County Jail. He worked 8 ½ years here before retiring in December, 2008.
Richard & Cheryll would make all of Richard's class reunions back in Denver. After his 55 year class reunion, they would go to Yellowstone National Park & on to Montana and visit the place where Richard grew up. They then went to Seattle & visited with his family & friends. They continued by driving down Highway 101 and visited many places, seeing the Ocean. They journeyed through California seeing many fruit orchards and their workers in the fields. They continued their journey to Arizona to see the Grand Canyon, before going on to Houston, TX to see some of Cheryll's family. They then returned back home to Cordell. They drove 8,965 miles & visited for a little over 3 weeks.
While Richard was receiving cancer treatments in OKC, he was gifted a new grandson, Dale Fode, who married his granddaughter Hope. Dale is enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He took Richard to visit Tinker AFB in Midwest City. He more than enjoyed a tour provided by Dale. The highlight of the experience was being able to fly a plane in the simulator with an actual pilot and co-pilot with him. Dale gave him a hat to commemorate the day, and he was never without it afterwards. He was happy to revel anyone he saw about his experience.
On June 11, 2024, Richard and Cheryll celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and many friends in Cordell.
