Rhygonna "Rhy" Louann (Harmon) Hogan was born on April 3rd, 1957, to Bill
and Sarah "Wanda" (Gudgel) Harmon, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Rhygonna came
from a large family and as a young child she went overseas to Germany while
her father was stationed there. She was proud of her German heritage and
would tell stories of her time over there. She also really enjoyed sauerkraut and
was very much a lover of coffee. Rhygonna was a hard worker and worked a
majority of her life in the food industry in restaurant management in Oklahoma,
Indiana, and Texas. She was a natural leader and very dedicated to her work
and staff. Although she could be a stern boss her staff respected her for it. Many
stayed in contact with her over the years and up until her death.
Rhygonna had four daughters, Angela, Shellie, Andrea and Glenna. She enjoyed
spending time with them and their families. Later in life she met Jerry Lee
Hogan. They were married on June 8th, 2001 in Oklahoma City, OK and she
spent the rest of her life with him in Wichita Falls, TX. She was a proud and
loving Meme to 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In her retirement,
she made many trips to Oklahoma to watch and cheer on her grandchildren in
their activities whether it be cheer, theatre, football, or soccer. She also enjoyed
spending time with her brothers and sisters. She looked forward to get togethers
and reunions. Humor was a big part of their lives so they enjoyed teasing and
just getting to be together.
Rhygonna also had a passion for music and she came from a musically gifted
family. Her father had a band and many of her siblings played the guitar.
Rhygonna enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, and songwriting. In her younger
years she enjoyed attending concerts and her grandson Fran helped her
reconnect with this interest later in life. Music has always been important to her.
Additionally, the weather was also important to her and she made sure her
family always knew when severe weather was coming their way no matter the
time. Although she lived in TX she often knew more about the weather in OK
than her family living there. She enjoyed spending time with her family,
especially her grandchildren, her dogs Max and Marly, and outings with her
loved ones. She was proud and eager for grandson's upcoming high school
graduation. Rhygonna was a very hardworking, strong, determined, and kind
woman who loved her family. She will be deeply missed but her legacy will live
on.
