Rhama Weaver

January 22, 1924 — January 19, 2015

Rhama Earlene (Eudaley) Weaver was born January 22, 1924 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Oscar and Anna Eudaley. Rhama was the oldest of five children with four younger brothers. When Rhama was 16 her father took his first pastorate at the Carnegie Church of the Nazarene. It was there in a church service that a handsome young man walked in and caught her eye. Her friend dared her to go sit by him, and that man, Jim Weaver, would eventually become her husband.
Rhama graduated from Carnegie High School, then attended business college in Oklahoma City. Rhama and Jimmie were married April 10, 1943. They lived in Oklahoma City where she worked for the IRS, and he for Tinker.
In August 1945 after the birth of their first child, Jimmie Dean Weaver, Jr., they made a decision that would affect the rest of their lives. They quit their government jobs and moved to Carnegie, OK where they purchased a little three room house which they remodeled. As the years flew by that home was followed by seven more remodeled or new homes, and five more children - John, Joe, Jayne, Jeanne and Joanna. Move, build, baby; move, build, baby became a repeated pattern of the early years.
In the late fifties they moved to a farm which they dubbed the Circle J Ranch. While Jim was busy farming, Rhama was busy making a home and managing the family. Her days consisted of cooking all the meals from scratch, helping the kids with school work and projects, taxiing the kids to countless music lessons, sporting events, church events, summer camps, and sewing all the kids' clothes. Rhama was always a very creative person. She won many blue ribbons at the fair for her cakes, sewing, and flower arrangements. She enjoyed creating and painting, and had flare for the unusual, such as painting an old beat up piano sparkly pink!
When her youngest, Joanna, started school, Rhama went to work outside the home. She owned her own business, Weaver Tax Service, for 25 years. In 1977 Jim and Rhama built Weavers Corner, a rental complex, at the corner of Broadway and Ash. This was a new chapter in their lives where they bought property and Jim remodeled and then they rented or sold it. Rhama was very involved in this new endeavor, drawing up house plans and meticulously managing the finances for their business. Rhama's creative gifts complimenting Jimmie's skills, he was a good builder, she was creative.
In her spare time, Rhama was very active in the community. She served for several years as the president of the Carnegie Memorial Building Committee which worked to establish the Carnegie Memorial Building. She served on the Chamber of Commerce, and during that time helped establish the Carnegie Canna Festival. She was a member of the North Carnegie Demonstration Club of Farm Women. This was an organization whose purpose was to guide women to instill in their children an appreciation for the natural resources of our land. She was Neighborhood Girl Scouts Chairman, where she mentored countless young women for many years.
Rhama became a Christian at a very early age and was a part of the Church of the Nazarene for most of her 90 years. She served the church in many capacities. She was a gifted teacher, sang in the choir, organized Vacation Bible School, and cared for shut-ins. She served her church as if it were her own family, providing leadership and care. Truly, Jim and Rhama believed and lived out what Joshua declared, "But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15)
The final fourteen years of Rhama's life she suffered with Alzheimer's disease. Though the disease robbed her these last few years, it can never take away the amazing works of her life. She passed from this earthly life, January 19 at the Wilkin's Nursing Center in Duncan, OK.

Survived by her six children Jimmie Dean Weaver Jr. (Brenda) of Duncan, OK, John Paul Weaver (Kaye) of Carnegie, OK, Joe Weaver (Cathey) of Hideaway, TX, Jayne (Lynden) Lee of Burleson, TX, Jeanne Akin of Oklahoma City, OK, and Joanna (Richard) Bogle of Wichita Falls, TX.
