Revina Berry Frank was born on October 21, 1931, on her grandfather Tennyson Berry's allottment west of Fort Cobb. She passed away December 18, 2024, at the age of 93. She was born to Myrtle Berry Perda Sophy. She was raised by Adolphus and Cynthia Goombi and her grandparents Tennyson and Anna Berry. She was an enrolled member of the Kiowa Tribe and also a descendant of the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma.
She attended Oak View School and graduated with the Class of 1951 at Fort Cobb High School. Upon graduating, she entered the nursing program at the Lawton Indian Hospital. After completing her courses, she was sent to Phoenix, Arizona and started her nursing career at Phoenix Indian Medical Center. She then met the love of her life, Herman Frank, who also worked at the hospital. They were married August 21, 1952, and they were happily married for 60 years until he passed away in 2014. She retired as a nurse in the Diabetes Research Program after 38 years of service. She was honored for her years of service and received her award at a ceremony in Washington DC. She and her husband were members of the All-Nation Baptist Church in Phoenix. They participated in mission trips to American Samoa. Herman was a deacon, and they made two trips to the Holy Land - Jerusalem, where Herman re - baptized her in the Jordan River, one of the most wonderful highlights of her life. As a child she was brought up at the Apache Baptist Church west of Fort Cobb. She would say she was baptized in a pond near the church.
After her husband passed away, she moved home here after 60 years of being out west. She became a member of the First Caddo Baptist Church in Fort Cobb where she would share her story and experience spreading the word of God. She loved her church family and reading her bible daily.
In her spare time, she loved doing crossword puzzles and working puzzles, she would say doing them made her mind sharp. She was proud of her 1,000-piece puzzle of the OU stadium which took her 1 month to do. She would say I know every inch of that stadium. She came from a family of renowned bead workers and crafts people, as such she followed in their footsteps but she also was a wonderful seamstress and she encouraged her daughter Phyllis Whitecloud and inspired her to make beautiful regalia.
She and her husband were avid travelers. They were proud of their truck and campers, her home on wheels, she would say. They also were season ticket holders and supported the ASU Sun Devils and traveled to their games. Revina was a sports enthusiast and played softball and was a star player in the Fort Cobb Lenshorre BB team.
She loved going to PowWow's and dances. She would talk about going to the old Craterville park by horse and wagon with her grandparents when they would camp about 3 weeks before home and camping at the Indian fair in the 30's, 40's, and 50's and participating in the parade.
She was preceded in death by her father, her brothers, JT Goombi, Marlin Goombi, her sisters Lillian Wilson, Alicia Gonzalez, Polly Norhcutt, and Anne Nash. Her 2 grandsons Lance Windyboy Whitecloud, and Moses "Hootie" Whitecloud.
Survivors include her daughter Phyllis Whitecloud and her companion Phil Dupoint of Anadarko, brothers Phil Goombi and Timothy Goombi. Her grandson Gary Whitecloud Jr, of Red Rock, OK. Her 4 great grandchildren, Rhyanne, Harrison, and Tennyson Whitecloud all of Lakeside California, and Reagan Whitecloud of Hollywood, Florida. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, and extended grandchildren.
She never said goodbye - she would say "see you later alligator" and you would respond "after while crocodile".
