Rebecca Sue Mclane

June 4, 1949 — August 15, 2016

Rebecca Sue McLane was born the second child to Alyce (Tackett) and Jack McLane Jr. in Anadarko, Oklahoma on June 4, 1949.

She grew up on the family farm, which is, also, a tribal allotment, as a proud member of the Delaware Nation. Growing up on a farm meant long days and hard work. Rebecca found her niche driving the tractor working ground without a cab or air conditioning.

After graduating from Verden High School as Salutatorian in 1968, she attended college at USAO in Chickasha and later transferred to Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business in 1972.

Being a patriotic young woman, she enlisted in the US Marine Corp in 1972 and attended Officers Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. She later was transferred to Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, and finished her military service at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, as a First Lieutenant.

Settling in Kansas City, Missouri after her service, she began working for Trans World Airlines and began seeing the world. Her favorite places to visit were Rome, Italy and the Hawaiian Islands.

After 15 years in Kansas City and a real estate license attained, she moved to Branson, Missouri and sold real estate. When a new opportunity in real estate arose, she moved to Orlando, Florida before settling into her home of 15 years in Ft. Lauderdale, where she resided until health issues resulted in her return to Oklahoma in 2014.

Rebecca loved coming back home to visit her family, farm and friends. She never lost her love of the country and the animals but the lure of the Atlantic Ocean was where her heart had settled.

Ms. McLane was preceded in death by her mother, Alyce K. (Tackett) McLane in 2006.

Survivors include her father, Jack McLane, Jr., of Anadarko, Linda McLane, Ann and Grant Brower,
Jackson and Lauri McLane, also of Anadarko.
Nieces and nephews are Lee Marcum and Jade Marcum of the Oklahoma City area, Jeff Brower of Weatherford, Michael and Kodi McLane, Jenna (Brower) and S.L. Craft all of Anadarko, Skyler McLane of Weatherford, April (McLane) and Tyler Padgett of Verden, and several great nieces and nephews.
