Ray Leo Luttrell

Ray Leo Luttrell, 84 of Anadarko, was born October 28, 1930, to Virga Jasper and Willa Mae (Patterson) Luttrell in Mountain View, Oklahoma. He was called home on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, in Midwest City following a brief illness.
Ray was a proud graduate of Carnegie High School Class of 1949. Following graduation, he moved to Norman, Oklahoma where he worked for the Gilt Edge Dairy and later for B.F. Goodrich. It was during this time that his cousin set him up on a blind date. His date was to be the love of his life, Mary Kathryn Brockhaus. They were married in February, 1950. To this union three were born.
In 1956, the family moved to Anadarko where Ray co-owned and operated the Phillips 66 station with Adolph "Bud" Monard. He later owned and operated the Champlin service station. Ray worked as a contractor for many years, having worked on the Dollar Pond, Fort Cobb Schools, Meeker Schools and the Anadarko Senior Nutrition Center remodel. He also worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service on flood control projects in this part of the state. Ray operated Anadarko Pawn and Gun for a few years with his son, David.
He was an active member of the Anadarko First Church of the Nazarene for many years. In later years, he attended Oakridge Ministries. Ray was also a member of Gideons International for over 20 years and loved being a part of spreading the gospel. He and Mary K. loved to travel and were member of the Mobile Villa Club. Ray was "Grandpa" or "Dad" to many whether related or not. He loved the little ones and the feeling was mutual. Family was always important to him as was obvious by all those who gathered at their house on special occasions, whether holidays or relatives visiting from out of state. Their house was where everyone gathered to visit and eat.
Preceding him in death were his parents; parents-in-law, Jack and Iola Brockhaus; sisters, Velma Monard, Dora Holman and O'Dene Mills; brothers-in-law, Adolph Monard, Bill Holman, Bob Sloan, Leroy, Harold and Gene Brockhaus and Gene Hewitt.
Survivors include his wife, Mary K of the home; sons, Jerry Luttrell and his wife, Karen, David Luttrell and Patricia Leatherbury and her husband, Alan, all of Anadarko; brother, Emmitt Luttrell and his wife, Maureen of Palmdale, California; sisters, Veronica Sloan of Bethany and Aneta Erickson and her husband, Tom of Anadarko; brothers and sisters-in-law, James Brockhaus and his wife, Nettie and Ruth Brockhaus, all of Noble, Polly Hewitt of Norman and Howard Mills of Loganville, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Justin Leatherbury and his wife, Jessika of Oklahoma City, Jenni McEachern and her husband, Brandon, Jeremy Luttrell and his wife, Tonya, all of Bethany, David Luttrell and Katie Lyon of Pocasset, Chris Luttrell and his wife, Reanna, Steve Luttrell and his wife, Amy, all of Mustang and Eddie Luttrell of Yukon; 16 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be today until 8:30 P.M. and Friday from 9 A.M. to 8:30 P.M. with the family receiving guests from 5 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.
The funeral will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the Anadarko First Church of the Nazarene with Curtis Koscheski and Brian Ball officiating.
