Ray Neil Cyrus, 73, of Anadarko, was born December 4, 1940, in Springdale, Arkansas, to Paul and Helen (Threadgill) Cyrus. He passed from this life on July 17, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, at his home south of Anadarko.
Ray was raised and attended school in Anadarko and graduated with the Class of 1958. He went to Murray State College on a football scholarship. Ray worked in Oklahoma City for a while. He worked for Mike Kelley refurbishing Pizza Hut restaurants for a number of years. Ray later started his own business, AAA Tile Company that he operated until his health forced him into retirement.
Ray enjoyed his friends at Curry's and even had his own barstool there. He loved fishing and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a wife, Nancy; two sisters and their husbands, Sue and Jimmy Younkin and Carolyn and Alfred Black.
Survivors include his companion, Brenda Smith; one son, Chris Cyrus of Dallas; one daughter, Kelly Wall and Mike Richardson of Erick, Brenda's daughters, Kelley Worswick and husband, Spartacus of Anadarko and Alisha Golem of Illinois; eight grandchildren, Amanda Sain, Ronnie Cyrus, both of Oklahoma City, Christy Carey, Shelby Wall and his wife, Andrea, Levi Wall and his companion, Rachel Palmer, all of Anadarko, Elijah Wall, Jacy Wall and Chayton Richardson, all of Erick; eleven great grandchildren; the mother of his children, Nell Petrey of Plano, Texas; a special friend, Mike Wenninger of Anadarko and the crew at Curry's; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Anadarko with burial to follow in Memory Lane Cemetery. Condolences may be left for the family at
