Ray Allen Adams, 69, of Anadarko, was born December 20, 1943, to Charlie Henry and Dorothy Mae (Bussell) Adams in Cogar. He passed from this life on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in Oklahoma City.
Ray was raised in the Gracemont area and graduated from Gracemont High School in 1962. He worked for Sequoyah Carpet Mills for a while then for Wilson Meat Packing in Oklahoma City. Ray and Beverly Winn were married on March 3, 1967.During this time, he was also put in six years in the Oklahoma National Guard. Ray was ordained as a deacon at the Squaretop Baptist Church. He later went to work for the Oklahoma Department of transportation as a bridge inspector until his retirement in 1995. Ray and Beverly were members of the Gracemont First Baptist Church.
Ray liked camping, hunting, gardening and tinkering with small engines in his own repair shop. He enjoyed watching westerns and had become an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan. Ray also loved getting together with his family every chance he had.
Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter, Teresa Adams DuVall; two brothers, an infant, Raymond Adams and Charles Edwin Adams; three sisters, Ella Mae Hoolihan, Joan Powell and Ramona Adams and a brother-in-law, Dave Powell.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly of the home; three sons, Cletus Adams and his wife, Tina of Anadarko, Randy Adams and his fiancé, Kathy of Hurst, Texas and David Adams of Anadarko; four grandchildren, J.D. Adams, Brandon Smith, Leuren Adams and Dalton Adams, all of Anadarko; two brothers, Gene Fogle and his wife, Sue of Gracemont and Dale Adams and his wife, Barbara of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mary Housner and her husband, Bud of Oklahoma City and Donna Adams of Chickasha; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Saturday and from 1 P.M. to 9 P.M. on Sunday. The funeral service is scheduled for 10 A.M., Monday, August 12, 2013, at the Gracemont First Baptist Church with Pastor Don Crittendon officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of the Steverson Funeral Home.
