September 20th, 2017 Rathmel Ingram went home to be with his Lord. Born January 20th, 1927 in Hazel Oklahoma the youngest of five son's to Robert Ingram and Sally Hudson and brother to five sisters. Truman Ingram of Paul's Valley his only surviving brother.
Rathmel lived an interesting life. He attended school in Konawa Oklahoma where in the 5th grade his mother "Ma" made him take a welding class, that decision in few years would save his life during the Korean War. One day while in the Air Force he was kept at base to weld the bullet holes in the planes as his squadron was sent out on a mission in which they all perished.
Rathmel left school at age 15 moving to Richmond California with his mother and sister Oma to work in the ship yards. Rathmel and Oma both were welders. In 1945 during World War ll he joined the Army and served for five years. Then he joined the Air Force serving his country for seventeen years. He was Veteran of three wars, World War II, where he received the Victory Medal. Korean War where he received the Korean Service Medal, Silver and Bronze Star. And the Vietnam War where he received The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and a United Nations Medal and Presidential Unit Citation. Rathmel retired from military life in 1969.
After a decorated Service to his country Rathmel moved home to Oklahoma and settled in Anadarko to lived a quiet and simple life. He raised his three sons Dale of New Mexico, David of Anadarko and Randy of Oklahoma City. He adored his Grandchildren Jeremy, Devery, Tiffany, Josh, Heather (Coco), and Miranda. And he was blessed with eleven Great Grandchildren.
